6k For Water
- The aim of the race has been to raise funds to bring drinking water to 300 students at the St. Mary Kevin orphanage and school in Uganda.
- The We Are Water Foundation, in collaboration with World Vision, initiated a project to provide a water system at the school in 2017.
- We Are Water has been actively involved in supporting the race that World Vision has driven on a global scale
The largest race for water took place for the first time in Spain on Saturday, the 19th May: the Global 6K For Water, where participants had to run 6km (the average distance many children have to travel every day to get clean water).
The initiative took place in Madrid (Venturada). In parallel, anyone wanting to join the race and this good cause could do it from anywhere in Spain through the free application Kinendu. The Foundation has donated 1 € for every kilometre covered until reaching the goal of € 40,000, which will allow the construction of the facilities in the Saint Mary Kevin orphanage and school in Uganda.
Every step taken in this race represented one step less for a child to take to fetch water and more opportunities for a dignified life, for attending school and for leading a full life.
