Aurora Balart.

Santiago de Chile, 1945

Aurora Balart, born in Santiago de Chile on 11 August 1945, holds a BA in teaching French from the Pontificia Catholic University of Chile. After graduating, she obtained a grant from the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs to take a Diploma in Applied Linguistics and Methodology of French as a Foreign Language. After these two qualifications, Aurora Balart obtained an MA, specialising in Chilean and Hispano-American Literature, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration, both in Santiago de Chile, as well as a Diploma in the Economics and Finance of Culture in Paris, France.

As well as these university qualifications, Aurora Balart has taken various courses in language, literature and translation in both Spanish and French, as well as in the administration and management of cultural institutions. Aurora Balart has also published various studies and taken part in various lectures on linguistics, foreign languages and teaching. The last of her publications, "Mirada Americana por Los Caminos de La Mancha, Homenaje a las Letras Americanas", was sponsored by the Government of Chile and the Spanish Ministry of Culture in 2005.

In the professional sphere, Aurora Balart has carried out various administrative and teaching academic duties at the Pontifica Catholic University of Chile, mostly in the Faculty of Arts, as well as in cultural programmes. Along these lines, Aurora Balart was manager of the University's cultural programmes at internal, regional and international level between 1993 and 1996.

From 1997 to 2006 Aurora Balart ran the consultancy company ABS Gestión Artística y Cultural. During this period she carried out consultancy activities at both national and international level focusing on publicising artistic and cultural creativity; promoting exchange in order to develop and publicise culture; enriching the cultural range; developing competences in cultural management and promotion, and involving private companies in understanding the importance of culture, among other aspects.
