Spanish architect. He graduated in Architecture from the School of Architecture of Barcelona (ETSAB) in January 1971 and obtained his PhD in April 1987. He has worked in Barcelona since 1971. He is a professor of Design of architectural projects at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, where he obtained the Cátedra Blanca (White Chair). He is also a member of the Sant Jordi Royal Academy of Fine Arts and he also received an honorary PhD from the University of Trieste, in Italy. He established the firm Office of Architecture in Barcelona S.L. (OAB) with Xavier Martí, Lucía Ferrater and Borja Ferrater in 2006.

Carles Ferrater has established the keys to the link between architectural resources and solutions. He has also defined the responsibility and role the architect currently plays, as he has to face the adaptation and use of water in the habitat at a time of change. For him, the initiatives and solidarity projects carried out by the We Are Water Foundation allow for the implementation and projection of sustainable architecture.
