105 families from the most affected communities by the earthquake and tsunami.

December 2018 - December 2019

On the 28th September, in the Indonesian province of Central Sulawesi, an earthquake measuring 7.4 on the Richter scale affected Palu, Mamuju and Donggala. The earthquake and the subsequent tsunami, with three to five-meter high waves that penetrated the mainland caused more than 2,250 deaths (Data obtained on the 23rd October, according to the Indonesian National Board for Disaster Management).

The earthquake and the tsunami devastated most of the water access and sanitation facilities, causing thousands of displaced people to lose their homes, crops and livestock.

In addition to the loss of access to water and sanitation, in these cases there is always a severe hygiene problem that needs to be solved to avoid the spread of infectious diseases that affect children in particular.

To hand out 105 family hygiene kits and 105 children hygiene kits to families from the most affected communities to avoid the spread of infectious diseases and promote basic hygiene practices. º

These families will be chosen in collaboration with local authorities and communal leaders. The criteria will be:

  • Families whose hometowns were particularly affected by the earthquake and tsunami.
  • Single-parent families (women with children).
  • Families in which the head of the household is a minor.
