Water scarcity and poor sanitation are the biggest causes of child malnutrition and other life-threatening childhood diseases. Over 1,000 children die every day from diseases caused by lack of safe water, and worldwide more than 2 billion people do not have access to safe water.

ABOUT THE WALKATHON
- Goal: reduce the distance children walk daily to get water, giving them a more dignified life.
- Meaning: a charity event that raises awareness of this issue.
- Symbolic distance: between 4 and 6 kilometers, similar to what many children walk every day in search of water.
- Impact: raise awareness of the problem and generate resources to bring water to those who need it most.
