Martha Thorne

Executive Director of the Pritzker Architecture Prize

American architectural academic, curator, editor and author. She is the Executive Director of the Pritzker Architecture Prize and Dean in the architecture school at IE University in Madrid. Formerly, she was a curator in architecture at the Art Institute of Chicago. In the last few years, she has been the head of recruitment of several public institutions, such as the Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia and the Syracuse University. From 1996 to 2005 she worked at the Department of Architecture of the Art Institute of Chicago curating exhibitions, doing research and leading the acquisition of collections. She has written numerous articles on contemporary architecture for many international publications. Prior to her stay in Chicago, she resided in Madrid, where she organized exhibitions and publications about architecture for different public institutions.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts, Urban Affairs from State University of New York in Buffalo and a Master’s Degree in City Planning from the University of Pennsylvania and has continued her education at the London School of Economics.
