Smart water - Smart destinations
We organized the second edition of this event, Smartwater, Smartdestinations, with the participation of renowned decision makers in the public and private sectors. The conference was curated by David Cámara.
The aim of this activity was to discuss the situation of water in Mexico from a different perspective and in a sector as important and sensible as tourism, in particular the tourist infrastructures, among others, and the hotel projects.
In conclusion, the goal was to provide an all-encompassing vision of all those who intervene in the investment, management, awareness-raising and water consumption process in tourist destinations, ranging from the great developer and public regulator to the hotel guest.
The conference was presented by María Rosario Rubio García, Economic Advisor at the Economic and Commercial Office of the Spanish Embassy in Mexico, and the following guests participated as speakers: Jorge Bleier, International Sales Manager Roca; Carlos Garriga - Project Manager of the We Are Water Foundation; Mr. Eduardo Padilla Ascencio, Institutional Coordination Manager at the General Subdirectorate of Planning of CONAGUA; Mr. Miguel Morales Martínez, Director of Georeferencing of Tourist Destinations at the General Directorate of Sustainable Tourism Planning of the Mexican Tourism Ministry - SECTUR; and Mr. Agustín García Villa, General Coordinator of Advisors at FONATUR.
There were two round tables. The first one was made up of Mr. Rodrigo Gallegos, Director of Technology and Climate Change at the Mexican Institute of Competitiveness (IMCO) and Head of the Report on competitiveness of sustainable tourism in Mexico; the architect Enrique Villanueva, Development Director of Pulso Inmobiliario; Mr. José R. Fornieles, General Manager of FLUIDRA; and Mr. Patricio del Portillo, Director of Development & Acquisitions Mexico & Central America at Starwood Hotels & Resorts. This round table was chaired by Alicia Silva, founder and general director of Revitaliza Consultores and Sustentabilidad para México.
The second round table was opened by the architect Jorge Arditti, director of Arditti Arquitectos, with the participation of the architects
César Valle, director of IDOM México; Carlos Pascal, director of Pascal Arquitectos; Santiago González, general director of NAOS; Jose Luis Cortés, president of the Mexican Association of Architects and Sociedad de Arquitectos Mexicanos and the engineers Rubén Pavón, director of New Business at ABILIA and José Antonio Rivera, Vice President Development & New Projects of Apple Leisure Group / AMResorts
