The We Are Water Foundation will be communicating its message at the Barcelona World Race

The We Are Water yacht will be sailing non-stop around the world, taking with it the values and objectives of the foundation, with its slogan of solidarity and sustainability: “Some messages need to be taken around the world!”

November 20, 2010

The We Are Water Foundation is lending its name to a yacht taking part in the second edition of the Barcelona World Race, the only two-handed non-stop round-the-world race, which will be setting out from Barcelona on 31 December.

Jaume Mumbrú and Cali Sanmartí will be sailing the We Are Water yacht. These two great yachtsmen stood out for their sportsmanship and spirit of excellence at the previous edition of the Sailing Tour of Spain.

During this edition of the Barcelona World Race, they will be responsible for the adventure of participating in an ocean regatta of this kind and taking the name of the We Are Water Foundation, created by Roca, around the world.

The yacht will give visibility to two non-profit organisations, Zero Limits and Educación sin Fronteras (ESF).

Zero Limits is an organisation that, as its name implies, seeks among other things to organise sporting and social awareness projects in which there are no predefined limits for the participants, advocating ability for those with disabilities.

ESF is an independent non-profit organisation that focuses on social development through education and participated (with a yacht named after it) in the first edition of the race.

On Friday 26 November at midday, Jaume Mumbrú and Cali Sanmartí will be officially presented, together with the We Are Water yacht, at the Reial Club Marítim in Barcelona. After this date, the crew will be making last-minute adjustments in preparation for the start of this tough event, which will take them 25,000 miles around the world. The We Are Water yacht will compete with 14 other yachts representing eight different nationalities and will take over three months to complete the race.

The We Are Water Foundation is participating in the Barcelona World Race in an effort to promote the foundation and its objectives, as well as raise public awareness about the need to counter the negative effects caused by the lack of water resources in the world through the development of cooperation and aid projects with various NGOs.
