We Eat Water is a We Are Water Foundation app, created specifically for World Water Day 2012.

World Water Day

World Water Day is held on 22nd March each year. This aim of this global event is to focus attention on the importance of fresh water and to advocate for the sustainable management of water resources, by highlighting a specific aspect of water each year. The theme chosen for 2012, "Water and Food Security", aims to provide a further insight into these two closely-related concepts, the deficiency of which is causing a serious crisis in an increasing number of regions across the world. According to the UN, food security exists when people have enough nutritious food to meet their dietary needs for an active and healthy life; and water is one of the key factors in food production. This problem can be better understood if we consider that between 2,500 and 5,000 litres of water are needed to produce the food a person needs each day. And today, that amount is not guaranteed to supply the entire planet. For more information, visit the official website of WWD 2012.
