Tras 16 a\u00f1os de proyectos de ayuda en 121 pa\u00edses, en India \u2014donde ya hemos realizado 62 intervenciones que han beneficiado a cerca de 300.000 personas\u2014 la <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wearewater.org\/es\/insights\/agua-para-india-un-camino-hacia-la-sostenibilidad-global\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">presi\u00f3n sobre los recursos h\u00eddricos<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> ha aumentado pareja a la urgencia del acceso al agua y al saneamiento. En un pa\u00eds donde el 46 % de la fuerza laboral <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wearewater.org\/es\/insights\/india-el-mayor-reto-agricola-obliga-a-salvar-el-agua\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">vive de la agricultura<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> y m\u00e1s del 80 % del agua agr\u00edcola procede de acu\u00edferos, la sobreexplotaci\u00f3n se ha convertido en un desaf\u00edo estructural que exige soluciones en todas las escalas del uso del agua.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">India es hoy uno de los pa\u00edses con mayor<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wearewater.org\/es\/insights\/el-estres-hidrico-factor-geopolitico\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> estr\u00e9s h\u00eddrico <\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">del mundo. Con el 18 % de la poblaci\u00f3n mundial y solo el 4 % de sus recursos de agua dulce, la disponibilidad per c\u00e1pita se ha reducido a la mitad desde 1970. Seg\u00fan el Banco Mundial, cerca de 600 millones de indios viven bajo estr\u00e9s h\u00eddrico y, en todo el pa\u00eds, el 70 % de la lluvia cae en apenas tres meses, lo que intensifica la dependencia del agua subterr\u00e1nea y acelera su sobreexplotaci\u00f3n. Los datos del <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jalshakti-dowr.gov.in\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ministerio de Jal Shakti,<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> el organismo responsable del agua y el saneamiento en India, confirman, Que la campa\u00f1a Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, iniciada en 2014, ha logrado grandes avances: se han construido m\u00e1s de 117 millones de letrinas dom\u00e9sticas, 561.000 aldeas han logrado erradicar la defecaci\u00f3n al aire libre y m\u00e1s de 154.000 instalaciones sanitarias escolares han sido mejoradas.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pero a\u00fan queda mucho por hacer. Seg\u00fan el <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/washdata.org\/data\/household#!\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Joint Monitoring Programme <\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(JMP) de la OMS y UNICEF, m\u00e1s de 97 millones de personas de las zonas rurales a\u00fan defecan al aire libre y unos 76 millones disponen de un saneamiento sin garant\u00edas de salubridad.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">En India hay m\u00e1s m\u00e1s de 8.500 escuelas primarias p\u00fablicas de las zonas rurales. En ellas, el JMP se\u00f1ala que el 76 % cuenta con instalaciones de lavado de manos y el 68 % con letrinas separadas por sexo, pero a\u00fan 47 millones de de escolares en todo el pa\u00eds no disponen de ning\u00fan tipo de servicio de saneamiento y 90 millones carecen de instalaciones de lavado de manos.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><div class=\"whads-insighttext-gblock\"><div class=\"whads-insighttext-gblock__heading__col\"><h2 class=\"whads-insighttext-gblock__heading\">El poder del cambio radica en las comunidades<\/h2><\/div><div class=\"whads-insighttext-gblock__text__col\"><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Algo ha cambiado en la forma de actuar. Estar <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wearewater.org\/es\/insights\/ayuda-sostenible-las-comunidades-en-el-centro-de-la-colaboracion\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">cerca de las comunidades<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, escuchar sus problemas, comprender sus tab\u00faes culturales, reconocer sus inercias y observar sus h\u00e1bitos ha transformado la manera en que intervenimos. Las soluciones son ahora m\u00e1s eficaces porque nacen de una evidencia compartida con las agencias y organizaciones con las que colaboramos: cuanto m\u00e1s se fomenta la participaci\u00f3n, m\u00e1s crece la capacidad de gesti\u00f3n local.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Esa participaci\u00f3n solo es real cuando se acompa\u00f1a de <\/span><b>conocimiento<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Y cuando ese conocimiento se <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wearewater.org\/es\/insights\/liderazgo-femenino-el-futuro-del-agua\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">deposita en las mujeres<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, el impacto se multiplica. Lo hemos comprobado en aldeas, escuelas y comit\u00e9s: dejar de ver a las mujeres \u00fanicamente como v\u00edctimas de la falta de acceso al agua y empezar a reconocerlas como <\/span><b>generadoras de soluciones<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> nos abre los ojos a una realidad que durante a\u00f1os permaneci\u00f3 en segundo plano.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><div class=\"whads-insighttext-gblock\"><div class=\"whads-insighttext-gblock__heading__col\"><h2 class=\"whads-insighttext-gblock__heading\">2026: siete pasos adelante<\/h2><\/div><div class=\"whads-insighttext-gblock__text__col\"><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Esa es la evoluci\u00f3n que define los siete proyectos de este a\u00f1o en los que destacan tres conceptos clave que explican c\u00f3mo la participaci\u00f3n se convierte en gesti\u00f3n eficaz y sostenible:<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><b>El poder de los gabinetes escolares: los alumnos cuidan el agua\u00a0<\/b><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">En <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wearewater.org\/es\/proyectos\/acceso-mejorado-al-agua-y-saneamiento-y-fortalecimiento-de-la-higiene-en-escuelas-de-dewas\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dewas<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Madhya Pradesh), el primer paso es la creaci\u00f3n del Comit\u00e9 de Gesti\u00f3n Escolar (SMC), responsable del mantenimiento, la supervisi\u00f3n y el uso adecuado de las instalaciones, y del Consejo Infantil, formado por estudiantes que lideran campa\u00f1as de higiene, promueven el lavado regular de manos y act\u00faan como defensores de pr\u00e1cticas saludables dentro y fuera del aula. Ambos \u00f3rganos garantizan el funcionamiento de los <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wearewater.org\/es\/insights\/menstruar-sin-miedo-salud-educacion-y-dignidad\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Laboratorios de Higiene Menstrual<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, esenciales para la salud y la dignidad de las chicas.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La misma filosof\u00eda avanza en las escuelas de <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wearewater.org\/es\/proyectos\/agua-saneamiento-y-educacion-en-higiene-en-dos-escuelas-de-alwar\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Alwar<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Rajasthan) y en las de <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wearewater.org\/es\/proyectos\/saneamiento-seguro-e-higiene-para-las-ninas-de-dos-escuelas-en-ranipet\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ranipet<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> y <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wearewater.org\/es\/proyectos\/escuelas-con-saneamiento-en-el-distrito-de-erode\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Erode<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Tamil Nadu). En los centros educativos superiores de <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wearewater.org\/es\/proyectos\/instalaciones-de-agua-y-saneamiento-y-educacion-en-higiene-en-centros-de-educacion-superior-de-bhiwadi\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bhiwadi<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Rajasthan), los comit\u00e9s de alumnos consolidan la cultura de la higiene entre j\u00f3venes que est\u00e1n a punto de iniciar su vida laboral, reforzando la idea de que la gesti\u00f3n del agua y la higiene es una responsabilidad que se aprende en la escuela y se lleva a la comunidad.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Conocimiento y liderazgo para los m\u00e1s marginados<\/b><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">En <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wearewater.org\/es\/proyectos\/acceso-a-saneamiento-domestico-para-mejorar-la-salud-y-la-higiene-de-familias-vulnerables-en-sriperumbudur\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sriperumbudur<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Tamil Nadu) volvemos a incidir en la comunidad tribal Irula, que no dispone de letrinas dom\u00e9sticas ni acceso a un saneamiento seguro y funcional. All\u00ed aplicamos el Programa de Saneamiento Total Liderado por la Comunidad (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wearewater.org\/es\/insights\/la-comunidad-decide-la-comunidad-construye\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">SANTOLIC<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">), una metodolog\u00eda que desde 2018 utilizamos en las comunidades m\u00e1s abandonadas de \u00c1frica y que demuestra que el cambio real nace cuando la propia comunidad identifica sus riesgos, comprende sus pr\u00e1cticas y decide transformar su entorno. Este enfoque permite que las familias Irula pasen de ser receptoras de ayuda a convertirse en protagonistas de su propio proceso de dignidad y salud.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>El peque\u00f1o agricultor, garante de la seguridad alimentaria<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">En <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wearewater.org\/es\/proyectos\/fortalecimiento-de-la-seguridad-hidrica-agricola-y-domestica-la-resiliencia-climatica-y-el-riego-eficaz-en-nandyal\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nandyal<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Andhra Pradesh), trabajamos con los peque\u00f1os agricultores que dependen del agua subterr\u00e1nea para sobrevivir. El proyecto combina la rehabilitaci\u00f3n de un estanque antiguo y la construcci\u00f3n de un dique de contenci\u00f3n capaz de retener el agua del monz\u00f3n y recargar el acu\u00edfero, reduciendo la erosi\u00f3n y asegurando el riego de los cultivos. Es algo que venimos desarrollando desde 2010 en el desarrollo de <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wearewater.org\/es\/insights\/pequenos-embalses-una-oportunidad-a-la-vida\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">peque\u00f1os embalses<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> en las zonas m\u00e1s perjudicadas por la inestabilidad del monz\u00f3n. Cuando el agua vuelve a filtrarse en el suelo, los agricultores recuperan ingresos, frenan la migraci\u00f3n y fortalecen la seguridad alimentaria de la comunidad.<\/span>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Este enfoque coincide con la visi\u00f3n de <\/span><b>Rajendra Singh<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, el \u201chombre del agua\u201d de India, que expuso en el <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/waterregen.com.br\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Water.Regen Summit 2026<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> de S\u00e3o Paulo, que patrocinamos. El ambientalista indio record\u00f3 que la resiliencia h\u00eddrica empieza en las peque\u00f1as cuencas y en quienes las trabajan. Su mensaje es claro: <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cEl agua no se conserva desde los despachos, sino desde la tierra\u201d<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. La experiencia de Nandyal confirma esa idea. Cuando los agricultores participan en la planificaci\u00f3n, vigilan las estructuras y deciden c\u00f3mo gestionar el agua, la infraestructura deja de ser un objeto y se convierte en un sistema vivo. All\u00ed donde los comit\u00e9s escolares y agr\u00edcolas toman decisiones, gestionan recursos y se apropian de las infraestructuras, los proyectos dejan de ser \u201cayuda\u201d y se convierten en capacidad local.
